Smeaton's Eddystone Lighthouse, Devon mb-code 2378269 Original is red and whiteSmeaton's Eddystone Lighthouse, Devon, c1850. Built on the treacherous Eddystone Rocks by John Smeaton 1n 1756 1759, this was the third lighthouse on the site, 14 miles south of Plymouth, the previous two having been destroyed by storm and fire respectively.
